Oakland Landlords Lose Challenge on Relocation Payments
An Oakland couple who paid nearly $7,000 to move back into their home after military assignment is challenging the city’s Relocation Payment Ordinance on grounds that it amounts to an illegal seizure of property under the Fifth Amendment. A U.S. District Judge has dismissed the case, but the couple vows to appeal.
